just a babe and
already so fair of face,
this nimble young god
could win any race.
with snakes twining up,
he takes winged staff in hand
and delivers to all
godly messages across the land.
inventor of instruments divine
and with a sense of humor sure to amuse,
he strives to teach mankind
practical arts it could us.
with beauty and never-ending grace,
there could be only one.
so for all his good, kind deeds,
he shares his name with the planet closest the sun.
