The Sun

washing the sky in vibrant rosy hues,
he awakens –
beginning to raise his sleepy head.
climbing a ladder only he can see,
he begins his daily trek
across the clear, azure sky,
lighting the heavens as he does.
although millions of miles away,
he seems as close as any neighbor –
close enough you can feel every one of
his passionate, warm caresses.
even though we often take for granted
his very presence,
it is hard to deny all the love
the sun provides to us everyday.
